Our end of season BBQ, Ski Race and Prize Giving is taking place on Sunday, 26th May at RM Condor and this year includes a Roller Ski taster session.
The day is open to all members, family and friends and is a great afternoon out. The cost for the day is £5 per person with under 5’s going free. This this includes:
- Access to the slope
- Access to the roller ski taster (to book this and for more info click here)
- Equipment hire
- Entry to the race and a finishers medal
- Entry to the BBQ
- Free Roller Ski taster session (must be booked)
To register your attendance please complete the booking form (click here) later than Wednesday, 22nd May to give us time to finalise numbers for the food! We will also be organising a kit swap as they have been really successful for the last two years, so start looking out any unwanted ski gear! If you are just attending the BBQ and do not intend to ski please select the “recreational skier” option when booking in.
The plan for the day is as follows:
ROLLER SKI (Session 1) – 12pm-1.30pm
Roller ski session delivered by Snowsport Scotland coaches. Session lasts 90 mins (includes time to get kit on/off). Meet at the pavilion.
SKI RACE – 1pm (Registration) 1.30pm (Race Start)
On arrival at the slope please go to registration and collect your bib. All those who take part will receive a medal. The race will be on the long tow slope and there will be plenty of time to practice on the small tow slope before and during the race. The race will consist of one warm up run (adjacent to the course), followed by two timed runs through the gates.
BBQ – 2pm – 3.30pm
The BBQ will be set up outside the Pavilion near the slope. Arbroath Ski Club will provide burgers and sausages from Flemming’s Butchers (yum!) along with vegetarian options, and rolls from Keptie Bakery for everyone to enjoy.
We rely on members to kindly volunteer to bring additional nibbles and treats, e.g. salads, quiches, cheese slices, dips, crisps, sweet treats and puddings as well as water and juice. Eileen has kindly agreed to co-ordinate this aspect this year so please email her and let her know what you can bring with you so we don’t end up with loads of salad and no pudding! Please label freshly prepared food and home baking, this will greatly help those with allergies.
If anyone in your party is vegetarian please get in touch with Eileen directly so we can make sure we have enough vegi stuff – Eileen.clark49@yahoo.co.uk.
KIT SWAP – 2.30pm – 3.30pm
Many of us will have ski gear which is still in good condition but does not fit or have extra gear that is not used. Members are encouraged to bring gear which you would like to swap, this may suit families with fast growing children. You may also have gear which you would prefer to sell, this is ok too, but transactions will be made member-to-member and the Club will not be involved.
We will provide a donation box which will be raising funds for the Ski Club if members would prefer to make a contribution for kit which is being gifted and not sold. We do ask members to take home whatever is not moved on as we have no storage facilities.
BACKGROUND ACTIVITES 2pm – 3.30pm
Fingers crossed for some of this lovely sunshine at Condor on the 19th May as we will hopefully be able to organise a few games and activities to keep the kids and adults busy when not skiing or eating burgers.
With this in mind, we welcome volunteers who are happy to coordinate a game or too in the background, there is plenty of grass space beside the pavilion.
If the weather doesn’t play ball there is plenty of space in the Pavilion to keep us dry.
ROLLER SKI (Session 2) – 2.30pm – 4pm
Roller ski session delivered by Snowsport Scotland coaches. Session lasts 90 mins (includes time to get kit on/off). Meet at the pavilion. Please note if you are involved with this session you will miss the prize giving.
PRIZEGIVING 3.30pm
Our Chair Maggie Lawrie and Head Coach David Treger will present awards to members and a group photo will be taken for the Website and Facebook.
If anyone has any questions or would like to volunteer to assist we would love to hear from you! You can email Maggie at Maggie_lawrie @hotmail.com.
We really hope you can make it and look forward to seeing you on the day 🙂
Please Note: Membership cards will be needed to access the Base. If you don’t have a membership card, this can be organised but please go to the website and register for this quickly – https://www.arbroathskiclub.co.uk/membership/.
