New Instructors in the Making
Although the first lessons don’t start until September, the Club’s activities for the 2018/19 season get underway this Friday, 24 August, as the first 10 Ski Academy members start their 5-day BASI (British Association of Snowsport Instructors) Level 1 Alpine Ski Instructor course.
After successful completion of the 5 day course, the 10 candidates will then have a 2 day Outdoor Emergency First Aid course to sit, as well as a Child Protection Module, before undertaking 35 hours of shadowing on the slope before they will become certified instructors.
The Club is funding the candidates through their course, which at over £700 per candidate is quite an undertaking. We recognise however that introducing people to skiing and then developing their skills forms the core of our activities and without developing our instructors, we cannot begin to achieve this.
We would like to wish all 10 candidates GOOD LUCK on the first stage of their instructor training!
